The sequence has no significant homology to any known protein sequence. Our own in vitro characterization of this protein shows that it is monomeric and contains a significant amount of secondary structure in solution; however, its tertiary structure has not yet been determined. ===== The protein has no intended function, but we are keen to learn if this designed protein sequence folds into the intended conformation. This would demonstrate the ability of laypeople to design stable folded proteins, which has far-reaching implications for protein design, and would mark a milestone in our understanding of the protein sequence_structure relationship.
