VLPs of ssRNA phages can be used for various purposes, including creation of VLP-based vaccines. Various VLPs can be suited for presentation of various antigens. VLPs of ssRNA phages are composed of 180 coat protein monomers. Two monomers build up a very stable dimer, so VLP can be regarded as built from 90 dimers. Monomers do not exist in a free state, so modelling a monomer structure makes no sense. Advice for modellers - please try to model a dimer structure, since 180-mer will be probably too difficult but monomer structure in free form simply does not exist _ hydrophobic core of the protein is in part composed of inter-monomer contacts in dimer.
