Sixth Community Wide Experiment on the Critical
Assessment of Techniques for Protein Structure Prediction
PLEASE read instructions before you register.
Registration Instructions
This page is a gateway to the on-line Registration Forms for the Sixth
Critical Assessment of Techniques for Protein Structure Prediction
Experiment (CASP6).
As in recent CASPs, CASP6 will evaluate two classes of predictions.
First, the traditional 'human' predictions, in which groups may use
any combination of human knowledge and machine methods, and where there
is usually at least several weeks in which to prepare models. Second,
'server' predictions, in which target sequences are send to server machines
that must submit models within 48 hours, without any human intervention.
In CASP6, target queries will be submitted to your servers
by CASP (independently of CAFASP) and will also be collected by CASP. Those,
intending to submit automatic predictions must register as a server.
Those intending to provide both 'human'- and 'server'- type
predictions must register separately for each but under
different group names (e.g., MyGroup and MyGroup-serv).
You can register if you either intend to submit predictions or just want
to receive updates on the progress of the experiment.
There are three separate registration forms.
-
Predictor Registration Form
-
This form should be used to register a 'human' predictor group for
participation in CASP6. It should NOT be used to register servers.
The leader of the group and all group members should register separately.
-
Server Registration Form
-
This form should be used to register a fully automated computer server for
participation in CASP6. If several people run the server, all of them may
register. The leader of the group (server developer/curator) and all members
of the team should register separately.
-
Observer Registration Form
-
This form should be used by those, who are interested in CASP6, but
do not intend to submit predictions.
Please, use the appropriate registration form.
You should make only one registration to be associated with the
particular group. If you need to
modify an existing registration
, you can do this at any time using the registration code returned
after your original registration.
Note, that this registration is NOT the registration for the December
meeting in Italy. To register for that meeting, you will be required
to fill in a separate Meeting Participant Request Form that will be
posted at our web site later. Be aware, that the meeting has limited
attendance and priority will be given to members of active prediction
groups.
Generally, predictors may only register as members of a single group. In
extenuating circumstances, multiple group membership will be allowed.
Please send email to
casp6@predictioncenter.org
if you wish to be considered for multiple group membership, explaining the circumstances.
Multiple group registration in CASP:
CASP discourages multiple group registrations from the same set of people.
The reason is that we have noticed this mechanism has sometimes been used
to circumvent the five model limit. Obviously unfair to other predictors.
However, we recognize that there are circumstances where multiple registrations
are appropriate (one group with two methods addressing different problems,
such as comparative modeling and contact prediction, for example). If you want
to register two groups, you are requested to write to
casp6@predictioncenter.org
first, explaining the reason. If your request looks appropriate, we will
tell you to go ahead. Multiple registrations that have not been
pre-approved will be canceled.
Be advised that this issue will be examined later by the assessors and
organizers, and we reserve the right to disqualify the second group to have
been registered if there is no valid difference between them.
